ABOUT OUR AWARDS

The mission of the PWC CT’s Awards Committee is to encourage A/E/C professionals to recognize the success, professionalism and career growth of their colleagues. We believe that hard work and dedication to our Chapter and the industry should be acknowledged and promoted. Every year, we are proud to honor at least 4 individuals with the following awards: Susan H. Labas Woman of Achievement, Rising Star, Excellence in Mentoring, and Chapter Volunteer of the Year.

2026 Award Categories & Criteria

Excellence in Mentoring Award

This award acknowledges an outstanding man or woman who has been a positive role model for women in the A/E/C industry. Mentors from any industry discipline are eligible.

The recipient should have a sustained career commitment to mentoring and a significant positive impact on their mentees' careers.

Core Evaluation Criteria:

  • Demonstrated dedication to the mentee (consistency, longevity, time dedicated).
  • Positive impact on their mentees’ careers (encouragement, guidance, positive influence).
  • Provides a model for professional integrity.
  • Is a teacher and a resource, helping the mentee(s) acquire knowledge and opportunities.

Rising Star Award

This award is given to a woman who has been in the A/E/C industry for 15 years or less and has demonstrated strong ethics, proven ability to learn quickly, and a focus on customer needs.

Core Evaluation Criteria:

  • Demonstrates excellent work ethic.
  • Gets their work done in a timely fashion.
  • Coworkers and clients see the drive to advance.
  • Takes responsibility for their actions.

Susan H. Labas Woman of Achievement Award

Susan Labas was a founding member of PWC and a driving force behind the PWC-CT programs for 20 years. Her dedication shaped the success of PWC CT and created lasting opportunities for women in construction.

This award is presented to a woman who has achieved professional excellence and made contributions to the A/E/C industry. Nominees should have a minimum of 15 years of experience and serve as a role model dedicated to the advancement of women in the industry.

Volunteer of the Year Award

The annual Volunteer of the Year Award honors a current member of the PWC Chapter of CT who has demonstrated commitment to the Chapter through involvement and contributions.

Eligibility:

  • Current chapter member
  • Sustained involvement in the PWC Chapter of CT

Core Evaluation Criteria:

  • Participation in a CT Chapter committee.
  • Outstanding contributions to a committee or program.
  • Involvement in a particular project or body of work for over two years.
